BURNS LAKE, B.C. – A lengthy drug trafficking investigation culminated in a major coordinated operation in Burns Lake on October 30, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of a significant cache of illegal goods.
Burns Lake RCMP, supported by specialized teams, executed search warrants on three properties, successfully disrupting local drug trafficking networks.
“Yesterday, Burns Lake RCMP have successfully removed a significant amount of illicit drugs from circulation in a coordinated operation aimed at disrupting the local trafficking networks,” said Sergeant Anthony Brooks, Operations NCO for the Burns Lake RCMP. “The operation highlights the continued effort and commitment at protecting our communities, reducing harm to individuals, and reinforcing the efforts against this type of illegal drug activity.”
Details of the Coordinated Operation
The search warrants were executed with assistance from the North and Southeast District Emergency Response Teams, RCMP Police Dog Services, and other support units. Due to the perceived risk to officer safety, distraction devices were deployed upon entry to secure the occupants safely.
In total, eight individuals were arrested without incident or injury.
During the course of the search, police seized the following:
- Over three kilograms (3kg) of suspected illicit drugs.
- Multiple firearms.
- A significant quantity of cash, along with other items consistent with drug trafficking.
The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been laid at this time.
The Burns Lake RCMP is urging the public to continue their vigilance. If you observe suspicious behaviour or suspected drug trafficking, please contact your local police to report it.
