HAZELTON, B.C. – The Hazelton area was buzzing with community spirit on Tuesday as residents came together to celebrate Canada Day with a full slate of family-friendly activities.
The local MLA for Bulkley Valley-Stikine, Sharon Hartwell, joined the celebrations, connecting with families and residents throughout the day.
The festivities began in the morning with a classic Canada Day pancake breakfast, bringing neighbours together to share a meal. The celebration continued into the afternoon with a community barbecue, where volunteers served up hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill.
A fun-filled atmosphere was evident, with children enjoying free popcorn and sno-cones, getting their faces painted, and entering draws for prize baskets.
The event served as a snapshot of a modern Canadian community—a place where residents can celebrate together, while also holding space for the important and necessary conversations about the country’s past and its path forward. It was a day that highlighted the strong community bonds and vibrant spirit of the Hazeltons.
