PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. – Families in Prince Rupert have a new, free option for keeping kids active this June. A mini bike park is being set up inside the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Arena every Monday for the rest of the month, starting this Monday, June 9th.
As part of the City of Prince Rupert’s “Community Better Challenge,” the arena will be open from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM for kids aged 0-18 to use with bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, and scooters. The drop-in event is designed to be accessible to all, and organizers say some extra gear will be available for those who need it.
Safety is a top priority; helmets are mandatory for all participants, and other protective pads are highly recommended.
The event series is made possible by a local sponsor. Organizers gave a “huge thanks to CORCOAT CONTRACTINGfor stepping up and sponsoring this event.” They also credited the City of Prince Rupert Recreation department for coordinating the insurance and facility use.
The free bike park will run on June 9, 16, 23, and 30.
